Really? I saw a lot of wright bats that broke 10 seconds.

well ive only seen like 6 of them and all have failed. Not a great design for duration so most ppl dont use them

what is a wright bat? I can imagine it must be pretty strange, but ornithopters didn't do to well either.

We used an 8 gram wright bat last year at nats which gave us 30+ secs and was good for 6th place with the bonus for one rotor.

lol ok well that was while it was a trial, i think its become a bit more competitive now...

its basically a single rotor helicopter with 'wings' on it so when it comes down its 'supposed' to float like paper. (it doesnt)

Well yeah obviously :D . Pretty much everyone uses the parlor copter and its just going to come down to who has the best rotor angles and the right rubber thickness. I doubt we are going to see too many innovative designs this year but who knows...

idk. some people had custom designs that were fairly successful and I can see them doing very well with more testing

At illinois state last year, i did a last minute wright bat that got 45 seconds, no joke. Double looped 3/32, went all the way to the ceiling of the Armory.

Helicopter (Regionals -3rd gahhh) (State ~5th)
Wind Power (Regionals ~1st) (State ~3rd TIERED!)

huh, that is really good for something that looks so bulky. do the big bottom things flap? or just the prop?
