lllazar wrote:Oh. Well in that case, i totally understand. But why do u guys do that? Is it to free up room for scheduling?
because my coach feels 'study' events are more important so they send only 1 builder to do all the builders stuff under the faulse assumption that "everyone should be able to use it, but not everyone knows alot about ornothology."
its annoying but the next 2 years I wont accept that, if im not doing my building events I spend alot of time on, then they cant use them.
^^ does that sound selfish?

If we go to nationals (which is doubtful since Stevenson and New Trier) then I deff wont accept that. I will require that I do them, especially if I place at state. My coach feels we can go this year b/c we have alot of strong ppl (they were gone for regionals @ schol bowl) so if we manage to beat New Trier (unlikely) then I'll have some leverage :D

That's not selfish at all - frankly, that's just plain ridiculous of your coach. That's like giving one teammate a cheat sheet for, say, anatomy, and telling them to go do that event. You need the background knowledge/testing experience to successfully fly a helicopter, not just the helicopter itself.
And building events are more than a fourth of all the events... if that isn't "important" I don't know what is, and it certainly adds up.

exactly!! But if I want to be involved with state i guess its what I have to do...

That won't be acceptable in the future (AKA next year) when Im an upperclassman and have seniority. + this year I placed in all the building events I did at all competitions. so honestly I think its stupid that a Jr. that is bad and never placed at say, astronomy, is put on state team over me who has consistantly. (btw idk what event those ppl are on, i just chose one @ random.)

For the sake of getting us back on track, i have a question regarding the number of winds in my rubber. Do the rotors spin faster when there are more winds - i would think so since more winds = more torque.

makes sense, you using any lub on the bearing? that might keep it more consistant through the flight

If you mean lube, then graphite could be a good idea.

I just finished another copter... finally, underweight at 3.75 grams

Hmm so oil or graphite for the bearings? I think that's actually a really good idea, never even tried that.
