Yep, they're usually short answer, too. I had one herpetology test last year that had a lot of multiple choice questions, but that's the only time I've encountered that. As a general rule, you should assume that things are going to be short answer.
our A+R test last year was basically 3/4 multiple choice, about things on anatomy, appearance, and other things. but the ID and the short answers were a bit harder, things like a given situation, and some models, and real live turtles!

I agree with Alpha and Sew. Multiple choice questions aren't very likely for identification. It makes it a lot easier for everyone, and especially easier for unprepared teams. But, tests do vary depending on what meet it is. You should study for short-answer questions, and if you happen to come across multiple choice, lucky you! ;)
And the non-identification questions are also usually not multiple choice, right?
In NY the identifications have always been fill-in, scientific names only. The other questions have historically always been multiple choice.

I'm so nervous. On saturday, we have a practice meet at Cyprus-Falls in TX!! On our notes sheet, we can draw diagrams and stuff free hand right? We just can't copy from a website and print it?

The rules say that your notes sheet can have content "in any form, and from any source". That means that you can copy images and text from websites, or you can draw it if that pleases you.

Do we need to know all species for B division, or just genus?

well, if you studied the species listed on the list, then wouldn't it be genus and species?
It might depend on your state list also.

specific anatomy, incubation periods, niche, flight pattern, migration, diet, habits, habitat, ecology, appearance, etc. etc.

If you're referring to SO tests, I have no idea. If you're talking about general bird tests online, you can find several good ones with google.

Here are some quizzes that I found that are interesting. For the most part however, they probably wouldn't be that much of a help for SO, because there are a lot of things on these quizzes that won't be at the competition.

Has anyone come across a good method for learning bird calls? The national list has 47 different bird calls; is there a better method than rote memorization?
When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.
