down here in Texas we don't have to learn to drive in ice or snow - the only thing we have to be able to do is get a working AC lest you roast alive.

the ac in my car stopped working in the middle of july...

Just wait until you're 5 over and you're beingpassed by people going 20 faster than you, and when the car behind you is tailgating inches from your rear bumper. And, yes, it was less than a foot. I measured it by backing up to a identical car that we own...

Driving, like everything else, takes practice. More than likely, you will go up on a couple curbs as you learn. The important thing is to build up from a certain comfort level where each time you drive, you get a little bit further outside your comfort level. Before long, driving a car will become second nature.

And to any intermediate drivers out there, when merging onto the freeway, it's much easier if you can maintain your speed and just slip in right behind a driver already in the lane. It's a bit of a timing game, but it's easier than it gets a rep for. Just my unsolicited driving advice coming from someone who sees way too many "nervous mergers" out there. ;)
