I'd be very surprised if you didn't make it. Even if you didn't do well in your events, (and being honest you did fairly well especially for a seventh grader) you seem to have a dedication to it. I did horrendous my seventh grade year and they kept me on so I wouldn't be to worried about it.space-egg wrote:School is ending a week from today, but I'm missing the last few days for Nationals.I'm very excited for Nationals though. I'm worried that I won't make the team next year if I don't do well in my events. Also, I think the summer is going to be weird without practice nearly every day.

Wow supportive teammates
Would've been nice to have more of those.
(my team was fairly toxic to each other. Except for the 8th graders; we were pretty close)

that feeling of sadness that comes when you remember that you suck at everything and that everyone on this site is 3000000x better than you in every possible way just sinks self esteem more than its already sunken (and lets be honest, right now my self esteem is down the toilet drain right now, so i dont know WHERE that feeling of sadness is taking it now)

ANOMALY NOOOOO listen ilysm and you've been such an amazing friend to me in the talks we've had on irc and you are truly a code god (btw thanks for the aristos and patristos, they were... interesting). nats isn't about individuals, it's about every single member of the team, and you can't really affect your teammates' performance no matter how hard you try, doing your best is all that matters. don't let anything bring you down, you are amazingAnomaly wrote:that feeling of sadness that comes when you remember that you suck at everything and that everyone on this site is 3000000x better than you in every possible way just sinks self esteem more than its already sunken (and lets be honest, right now my self esteem is down the toilet drain right now, so i dont know WHERE that feeling of sadness is taking it now)

We believe in you. It's not about nats, or anything you've done specifically - I've never gone to nats and have lost every officer position I've run for, as well as anything I've really tried for.Anomaly wrote:that feeling of sadness that comes when you remember that you suck at everything and that everyone on this site is 3000000x better than you in every possible way just sinks self esteem more than its already sunken (and lets be honest, right now my self esteem is down the toilet drain right now, so i dont know WHERE that feeling of sadness is taking it now)
It's not about that stuff.
It's about you; you are you, and ask anyone on this site, no one here looks down on you, and quite the number look up to you.
Take peace in who you are.

Re: Your Daily Random Comment
Scioly things that keep me up at night:
Sometimes I think about amazing partners who I took for granted because I thought they would be my partner again next year but turns out they won't and I feel sad
I got 10th at states in disease, which is pretty sucky, but I'm an officer now, so I can do it again if I want, and I believe the other officers are ok with it. However, I don't know if it would be right for me to just take that position away from someone who potentially is better and will work harder than me. I have worked pretty hard at Disease, but clearly not enough... (Note: another officer will also probably do Disease next year, so this means our A team has no open Disease spots if I choose to do it)
Since this other officer and I will most likely be writing the tryout test for it together, I'm thinking of letting anyone who gets above a certain percentage (maybe 85-90%, it won't be too hard but it won't be too easy, maybe like a difficult regionals?) to take my place, but then I'm worried I'll write a bad test.
Also, I admit it, I don't really want to put work into a totally new event and I want a redemption arc. Part of me wanting to do it again is purely selfish and lazy.
Ugh, now I really regret not working harder on Disease and not bombed State. If I had medalled then this wouldn't be a moral dilemma because I would have a good reason to take it again. Study for your events because if you don't they come back and haunt you at night.

Idk what to really say but you helped me through my darkest days, in my deepest bouts of depression, so if there's anything I can do to help or make you feel better just let me know.Anomaly wrote:that feeling of sadness that comes when you remember that you suck at everything and that everyone on this site is 3000000x better than you in every possible way just sinks self esteem more than its already sunken (and lets be honest, right now my self esteem is down the toilet drain right now, so i dont know WHERE that feeling of sadness is taking it now)
