I don't think it specifically says DQ in the rules, so probably just a penalty. Besides, they are required to tell you if they're going to DQ you (not that they always do).
sweet. im having my coach email the proctor to see if i got penalized. that would make my day if i was...i thought i did really well!

At most competitions (other than invitationals), NO scoring is returned to the team- all they get are their places and sometimes some scores from the building events.

As for the question of whether it would be one model or several or what, at Nationals we were in tables of I believe five or six people, but you could walk around the table as much as you wanted. NY States last year, each person had their own model (probably because each one was just this little thing of like 25 legos). At my Regionals (which usually sucks), it was 2 people to a (badly and inconsistently built) model.

How big was the structure at nats? and what was it made of?

It was 20-some pieces, and made of "Googolplex", this teachers' toy that isn't sold anymore. For some reason they still have it in Ohio (the OH kids were the only ones who'd practiced with it), and I think the National supervisor is from Ohio. It's been used at Nationals for the past two years.

Oh, that's cool. Nobody in NY has them, and since they don't sell them anymore, we have no way of getting them to practice
(We still got 3rd at Nats last year, though, so evidently it didn't hurt us too badly
).

they arent available in "a lot" of places but maybe you can order them like special if they arent supplied in where ever you live....

We were planning on ordering them, but then we found out that the company that made them has discontinued them completely- not selling them anymore, not making them anymore, nothing- and there aren't any on eBay or anything like that
