Is the lid flush with the lid? But it seems that it should be ok, I'd just be careful with it being 2.5 cm.

The lid (or top of the box) must be within 2.5 cm of the beaker.

Also, cotton and wool batting is being considered as insulation and therefore prohibited per the FAQ at the SO website. This is upsetting as my kids used bamboo batting and their box is built and tested.

I think they are banning cotton in general. i suspect shredded cotton jeans may not be allowed either as it is used for warmth. i have asked the question at the website. i think the "insulation" wording for this event is poor in the rules. They need more examples of what is not allowed.

Technically speaking cotton that is sold as batting, or for use in upholstery would not be allowed, but cotton balls would be since they are sold for a completely different purpose. Though they are essentially the same thing. So if you want to use cotton, get cotton balls.

Note that my box is filled only with cotton balls and I've never had any problems

About the cotton balls, does anyone else's get wet after testing? If this does happen, do you leave them to dry or replace them?

I used to leave them out to dry, but recently I've covered them with plastic wrap so that nothing gets messed up.

I use...unraveled cotton balls. This may pose a bit of a issue...perhaps proof would be good.
As for the wet thing, I keep it separate from the beaker entirely. It works.

Are we allowed to bring a screwdriver because we are using a nail to close it, and we need a screwdriver to open it. It's very effective in insulation, but I don't know if it's allowed, though it doesn't seem to go against the rules... Should I submit a clarification?
