Re: Microbe Mission B/C
I'm a bit confused. One of my invitational tests said archaea have several kinds of RNA polymerase, but the sources I've been looking at claim they only have one type. Does anyone know for certain?

They have one kind of RNA polymerase that is closely related to the three main eukaryotic polymerases (Pol I,II,III)

Okay, thanks. Makes sense - I guess whoever wrote our test was confused on a couple of different things...

Has anyone been given diseases that are not on the disease list? We consistently do (even at our state tournament) and it clearly states in the rules that all questions should be restricted to the disease list.....

Yeah, it happens. We got a couple too (luckily I knew them all), but the thing is that at the states and regionals tournaments the tests are usually written by volunteers that don't necessarily follow the rules because of lack of having reading the rules or lack of caring... At nationals though, the test writer should definitely follow the rule sheet.Starapollo1 wrote:Has anyone been given diseases that are not on the disease list? Re: Microbe Mission B/C
Yep, that happened to me at state too. We also had to identify the specific type of bacteria\virus\etc that caused the disease. I got so mad at myself for deciding not to put those on my notes, because I was so close to doing so.Starapollo1 wrote:Has anyone been given diseases that are not on the disease list? By the way, my state test was done in stations. I really didn't expect that.

Abortion? What does that have to do with Microbe Mission?Starapollo1 wrote:We had questions about the black plague, abortion, scarlet fever, ect...
