At 2013 regionals for NorCal, the egg drop was outside. The wind blew ours a bit side to side, but the egg landed safely.

That's the problem with the event being held outdoors. The wind can make the device go sideways, and if the cup with the egg does not land first, it's Tier 3 or 4!

Ive only dropped them outside once, but there was one team at regionals (ya it was a long time ago) whose rotor egg drop got carried by the wind and crashed into the building next to where they were dropping them....I guess outdoors it is more nerve racking....[/quote]

Yup...I'm glad that at nationals they are doing it indoors...so that takes away the worry of wind and stuff (even though there are probably air vents)[/quote]
The nonlucky teams will drop when the building heats up.Then, they turn on the A/C. Sucks that competition is in May.[/quote]


Were the AC vents a problem at Wright State at the Invitational???

Hehe, yea, I'm surprised you remembered. :)
I though our egg was completely cracked though, the device landed on its side. :?

Hehe, at States, they dropped indoors, luckily. We got 4th.
