anyway, thanks everyone for the help! states were today, and the my not-particularly-great-but-not-terrible results;
meteorology- 4
compute this-5
reach for the stars-6
scrambler-7
and the whole team got 2nd, so we won't be going to nationals. so good luck to everyone who does go to nationals! may you cream the team that beat us by 20 pts and has for as long as anyone can remember. (sorry, no offence to that team, they're just good, but it does get kinda tiring getting beat by the one same team over and over and over and over and over......) :D
congrats! you did better than me in meteorology :D (i placed, but not that greatly. dont ask please). hehe...yout competition situation is way similar to ours... :|

good job on all of your events! :D

I'm pretty sure El Nino and La Nina are a big part off state tests.

Yes, but he/she asked for the cause. I would think it's the same cause as El Nino, but correct me if I'm wrong.

isn't la nina the opposite of el nino???
because if it is the cause would be different otherwise it would be the same

Well one of the contributions to el nino or la nina is the trade winds. La Nina has strong trade winds and El Nino has weak trade winds. this affects the upwelling of the sea water which has an effect on teh temperature of teh water.
