Re: Preliminary: Rocks and Minerals
I can't personally recommend a guide because I haven't done the event before. Look back a couple pages on this thread for some more experienced insights about field guide selection.tuftedtitmouse12 wrote:ok, thanks luo

Re: Preliminary: Rocks and Minerals
I'd recommend the Audubon, and for competition the Smithsonian.tuftedtitmouse12 wrote:ok, thanks luo

That's exactly what I did for fossils.

Re: Preliminary: Rocks and Minerals
You need to have a good binder to do well at competition anyway; you simply can't succeed with just a field guide. It's good to have a backup, though, just in case.mingtian wrote:Cuz some people make very bad binders.tuftedtitmouse12 wrote:then why would the people allow us to have field guides?

Well, not everybody succeeds. That's my point.Kokonilly wrote:You need to have a good binder to do well at competition anyway; you simply can't succeed with just a field guide. Re: Preliminary: Rocks and Minerals
I have not done this event, but I have done fossils, and I am pretty sure, it is going to be a lot like fossils.harrybeatsvoldemort wrote:Have any of you already done this event? If so how did it go?
With speed being very important, because a lot of the competitions consist of stations.
Two main components are ID, and general knowledge.
