Well, you can theoretically have it bend as far forward as you want. Not optimal, though; plus, I don't know how'd you'd bend something forward when the fan is blowing it backwards.Mr. Cool wrote:Up to 3 cm on each side.jayadh wrote:My partner made a decent design for this, but I don't know if it's going to break when they put it on the cd player-thing, can it bend backwards and forwards? If so, how far? Thanks~

Well I know I was just responding to the backwards part. Bending forward doesn't make any sense.Primate wrote:Well, you can theoretically have it bend as far forward as you want. Re: Wind Power C
Having your blade bend backward a little bit due to the fan is not a major problem, as long as it doesn't break, hit the setup, or make your design fail. As far as bending forward due to wind, I don't think that would happen, but you can have your blades tilted or designed so they stick out forward if you'd like.

Although having your blades bend backward because of the wind isn't too optimal...

hey now.. It's not a terrible design.. and if it sucks after we test it, well we have until wensday... but thanks for the feedback!2win wrote:Although having your blades bend backward because of the wind isn't too optimal...

Re: Wind Power C
Oh, no, I'm not saying that it's terrible, i'm just saying that you want to maximize the amount of air that can 'push' the blades, so if it's bent back by the wind, you can't achieve that. Goodluck!jayadh wrote:hey now.. I was kind of wondering how he plans to make this sucessful, too, but he usually is pretty good at building events.. He probably just puts in a dedicated amount of time and effort.jayadh wrote:I was kind of wondering how he plans to make this sucessful, too, but he usually is pretty good at building events.. Re: Wind Power C
has anyone tried making a design that uses a solid airfoil design? that is what i am using and have used last year. we got 1500mv on high last year and this year with the added 8 ohm resistor and a 3 blade design(as opposed to a 2 blade design) we are hitting 480mv on high and 230mv on low. how does this compare to everyone elses figures so far? im just curious because competition is tomorrow and i am wondering what to expect.
