Our state test didn't have much to do with the subtopic. The scenarios were e.coli or salmonella poisoning, but the questions they asked about them could have been applied to any disease. We had stuff on optimal vaccination ratios, and one question on enterotoxins, but otherwise, it was mostly calculations. Somewhat humourously, they gave us most of the equations at the back of the test.

So Disease Detectives requires a bit of math? How much specifically? How hard is the math? (Hoping it's Calc or lower, which I will be taking this fall)

I'm not really a math person, so... :?

It's really simple math; it only requires division and multiplication, and, plus, you get a calculator.

What is the optimal vaccination ratio, and how do you calculate it? I have never seen it on a test before and I've seen probably 20 or so tests...

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure that giving you the equations is poor test writing; the formulas aren't even hard, and teams get to bring a sheet of information.

Yeah, you definitely won't need calc. In terms of math, there's just a formulas and I've seen some basic statistics on one test. It's more of understanding what the numbers mean to the situation (like determining causation or something).
