Is there any way to test the bottle rocket at home without having to buy the equipment they use at the competition?

well, you can always make your own diy launcher or buy a cheap launcher. otherwise, you could try dropping parachutes off a high place if your home has one.
check viewtopic.php?f=317&t=16053#p399974 for some links. ofc you can just do a quick google search otherwise.

Is ripstock nylon a good material for the parachute or are there better alternatives?

hmm it looks to be a bit thick for these purposes. I imagine that they would be a good choice for real parachutes, but for this event i would prefer some type of thin plastic bag material.

Should any standard one liter Pepsi bottle fit the parameters of the nose?

Thanks

Hi everyone. Just to clarify... is it okay if we completely separate the bottle label from the bottle and present it separately, or does it have to be attached?

Also, the rules say that we can't use any type of glue on the pressure vessel, but is it okay if we leave the bottle label on and use super glue on that? (No glue would be touching the bottle itself)

Last invitational we just showed the label. I didn't like taping into the label. They were fine with it.

Can you prove that the glue doesn't penetrate the label? I think you can't. I would not advise trying this - I'd give you no better than even odds than an ES would allow you to compete.

On my design, I have a flexible plastic material with the fins glued on them and then I taped the plastic material to the rocket. That should be fine right? Since we can show that the plastic material is taped not glued to the bottle.

Yes, I'd think that should be fine, and you can explain to the ES that you glued the fins to the flexible plastic, and didn't tape it to the bottle until the glue was dry, so there's no danger of compromising the bottle.

Someone who glues something to the label in situ can't make that claim.
