Wait what do you mean by "surface features?"

like the aromion (spelling?) on the scapula
and other bumps and ridges on bones that apparently have names...

Hey everyone :)

I'm doing the Anatomy event next year as a senior. I'm currently taking AP Bio. I really want to get a medal in this event at Regionals. So what books did you guys use to prepare for this? Are there any specific topics I should focus on? What are some good links you guys used :) ? I'm also a big fan of Da Vinci so I'm planning on replicating his anatomical sketches just for kicks lol.

Thanks!!! :)

first off
read the training handout on soinc
idk about c div but b div has one
also for c div u need to know the endocrine system
but for skeletal and muscular
major components is labeling the bones and muscles on a diagram
soinc has a official muscle list
so memorize the 50 muscles
learn the diseases
how excercise affects each system
how disease affect each system
basically..w/e the rules tell u to study, study it
good resources would be reading a college med book
webmd.com is a good website for diseases
and just goolge stuff u don't know

wait..wow did u say u were going to do anatomy next yr?
scratch what i just said b/c the systems change every year
next yr is prob going to be muscular and digestive i think..depends on the cycle

Acromion process. I wouldn't think it terribly likely even in C, since the rule says "label the basic surface anatomy of a bone," not know the surface features of each one. If you were going to look at them, besides the acromion I would look at the trochanters of the femur and the condyles and the foramen magnum of the skull, but I really doubt that it's necessary.

I've had one test in which we had to do this, but I wasn't prepared and we didn't get the answer sheet back so I'm not sure what they wanted. By basic surface anatomy, I'm assuming you should just know what a condyle, fossa, etc is, but the test writers could interpret it differently, still.

Does anybody know any good websites or anything to use to study these?

Get an anatomy textbook. All of this is discussed in detail.
