Does anyone know if you can start your Battery Buggy during a run parallel to the center line, but not on it? But still on the starting line.

I don't see why not, the rules only specify that the vehicle be even on the starting line.

...our first buggy, (we got 1st at regionals with it, didnt go to states yet), didnt get the 20 points for the center line...but we also didnt have an aliner. any good ways to make it go straight? also, if we make our own wheels, then how to cut them into perfect circles? :? we tried a circular saw.

its not the wheels that r the problem usually. its the frame and how the wheels are locked together. do these and get a sight.

sights are really easy to build. a U shaped bridge on the front and back of the buggy with a stick running across it will work sufficiently.

also for your wheels, i don't think it affects straightness, but it does affect your skid. Why are you making your own wheels? It's not a very accurate thing to do, you can buy prebuilt wheels and drill them to the size of your axle rod, or use CDs/something circular.

wheels do affect straightnes because if they wobble or one turns the other doesn't it won't go strait but yes dont make your own wheels as new_horizon said.

Generally, you can do anything that isn't prohibited by the rules, is not a safety hazard and doesn't violate the spirit of the competition. I see no language in the event or general rules that would disallow it.

Actually danyalukin I would beg to differ. I don't see any where in the rules where it specifically says that you cannot run your device parallel to the center line.

I agree with the automatically losing the 20 points bonus, but it is not prohibited.
