Same, looks like Islip is canceled over in NYAlicecream wrote:When invitational is cancelled because of the weather- welp have fun at Chattahoochee!
I didn't know they could cancel invitationals? Will they postpone it, or just not have it this year?NeilMehta wrote:Same, looks like Islip is canceled over in NY
If the school district forces our hand, there's not much we can do. Several schools would probably be willing to come despite snow on the ground if not for the districts here panicking at any any chance of snowflake.Alex-RCHS wrote:I didn't know they could cancel invitationals? islipscioly wrote:Our deepest apologies that we had to cancel the tournament for this weekend. Our utmost concern was the safety of everyone getting to our site and then being able to get home on the roads.
With that being said, an email was just sent to the coaches for the attending teams. We are investigating the possibility of hosting next weekend. We didn't think that it would be possible, but with the generosity of our theater arts department, we should be able to host the event next weekend with schedule modifications. We are in the process of hashing out the details now, but we would need to determine which of the participating teams would be able to attend next week. We understand that it is short notice right before the holidays, and we don't know if teams have made commitments with other invitational competitions. But if we could get an estimate of how many teams may be able to attend, we may be able to make this work.
Apologies for double posting, but Islip was at risk for five inches of snow, which would've started as many of the teams started leaving the school and hitting the highways. I think they had sufficient reason to cancel, it wasn't an insignificant amount of snow that was projected for the area.Unome wrote:If the school district forces our hand, there's not much we can do. I heard about that. Since the question was generalized, I was mainly speaking about our invitational where, despite 3-4 inches of snow, the roads were driveable in most areas.whythelongface wrote:Apologies for double posting, but Islip was at risk for five inches of snow, which would've started as many of the teams started leaving the school and hitting the highways.
