Proudest Moments

My proudest moment was last year. The whole season, really.

It was our school's first year holding a scioly team, and when we started that year, we only had 11 people going into regionals. Nobody knew what they were getting into. Almost everyone went into regionals with 3 or 4 events and it was hectic. Even so, our team was surprisingly able to pull it off (surprising, especially since we got last in so many events. Battery Buggy is not a favorite memory amongst our team). Although we tied with another school when scores were stacked V/JV, we had a better score unstacked, got 6th place overall and barely moved onto state. At state, we got some surprising results. It was a mess, like regionals. I had 6 events!! But as a team, we had medaled 6 times, of which I won 4. Three of them were gold. It was a huge success for our team. But we also did terribly at some other events (battery buggy never worked for my friend lol) and we got a pretty bad ranking overall. Even so, it was sorta inspiring for our school and this time, instead of going into regionals with 11 people like last year, we're going in with 30.

My proudest Scioly moment was, like Booknerd's, this whole, the whole season.

I was part of the team who, for the first time in 18 years for our school, made it to Nationals! But then they were canceled, so it ruined the feeling, but still. It was great.

The proudest moments of this year for me was anytime I competed in fossils. After coming off a disappointing season for fossils last year, my partner and I worked really hard to make sure that fossils was a great event for us. I grinded so hard because it was and still is my favorite event. By the time competition season came around, my partner and I were extremely good. Throughout our competition season, we achieved 4 gold medals and 4 silver medals over a course of 9 competitions including regionals. Its a shame that nationals was cancelled because we were super exited to see how we would've done on the national scale. But I guess we have next year now, since fossils is still in rotation.

My favorite moments this year was probably not the competition, but the things that came with it - everyone collectively watching our coach's hamsters run around before meetings, watching Vines in between events, running around the building and attacking each other with origami insect robots, casually having my gender assumed during Game On - as well as guiding the 6th graders from confused newbies to proud competitors. To be honest if you're looking solely at competition this season would seem a bit lackluster compared to last year, but I've learned so much from it and feel absolutely horrible that it has to end this way. Welp, time to start prepping for next year!

My proudest moment was mostly all of last year. Though the best part was the legendary lucky battery. At Chattahoochee invitational, I had battery buggy before the horrifying mystery architecture. I had left a battery in my pocket. The task was an arch, a very deadly task. The arch was to be built out of newspaper and very scary supplies, and it needed to hold 4 pennies. My partner and I struggled, this was a challenge our structure wouldn't stand up. It was at that moment I found the battery in my pocket. I took it out and my partner and I decided to pray to it worshipping it. Suddenly our structure not only stood up, but also held the pennies. This earned us 7th. Fast-forwarding to Centerville. I was entering game on with my partner, the battery in my hand. I prayed to it, and we came up with an insane idea. We got 1st. At states, our team's gliders had broke so they had to use their other one. I handed the battery to them for their event. Magically it succeeded. I still have the battery with me to this day.

Proudest moments for me:

States 2017 - We went into this one in a weird spot, since we had trimester exams the Friday of. We had to come in the morning of states, take exams, and leave. It ended up being our best states results since 2008, and I medalled in all five of my events, something I never dreamed I would be capable of doing at states! It felt like we had overcome all the odds to turn in an awesome performance, and it was a stunning end to my Division B career. It was probably a high point in my life and competitive career.

Cornell 2020 - Our first invitational of the 2020 season, we just kinda went in blind. We no showed Gravity Vehicle due to an unfortunate series of events, so we weren't expecting anything in top 10 past like maybe 6th lol but somehow we got 3rd at the competition??? It was a huge step up from Cornell 2019 where did less great lol. It was a huge surprise, and it was when we first realized that our 2020 team was something special. We learned through our performance here that we were a special iteration of the Kellenberg team, and that specialness was captured in the rest of our season. But Cornell 2020 was where it all started, the adrenaline was unmatched, it came out of nowhere, and it was incredible. I often rewatch the awards ceremony when I'm feeling down, and it always helps haha. Getting the trophy, throwing my phone to someone to take a picture of us, and cheering with my team as we exited the stage is just a memory I'll never forget. Perhaps the most legendary way ever to start the most legendary season of my career.

well I was super unprepared for anatomy like I had a few pictures, thatś it, and a few paragraphs, and we the night before regionals some godly friends helped me. So I got a few paragraphs on, which def helped. We thought we were going to bomb lol we actually got top 5 and we beat our b team, lol.

Oh I definitely gotta mention PCHS making nats for the first time ever last year. We always do pretty good in middle school, but extracurriculars and lack of organization definitely hindered the high school performance. However, we shaped up and broke the barrier. The coach for the middle school was in tears for us and it was truly a memorable states tournament.

wow I really wish I could do that next year. I wonder how that must have felt!

1)Had a good day at Boyceville Invitational
2)Did pretty okay at UMICH
3)Scored a team score of 26 at regionals.
