At competition I was being a wimp and only pushing it to 900. What sucks is that I definitely could have gotten more, and we were second place by only like 5 seconds. If I had 1200 winds I would have kicked their butterfly for sure... :(
Heh. My record: 200 winds. :|Then it snapped in my face at Regionals. Fail I know.
Really? i mean was it an accident or you just didn't move in from streching the rubber. or a crack or some flaw in the rubber.

I think i could probably get around 1500 winds on a 2 gram piece of 1/8 rubber.

Meh... 1500 seems like pushing it a little. I'd say 1300-1400. And it seems likely that my rotors would break once they were attached.
I win.

At states today, I ended up medaling even though I thought I wouldn't with a high time of 1:30. I think the highest time was New Trier with 2:12 or 2:09 or so.
Thing is, when I tested it in the morning, it flew nicely for a little over 2 minutes. It comes down a lot faster than I thought it did, though - center of mass is too high --> helicopter thinks it's a plane and comes down horizontal like one. lllazar, yours came down so slowly and evenly! Did you end up not quite performing how you expected to either? You were saying your flights were usually in the 2 minute range.
By the way, I flew the helicopter I built most recently for both flights. My kit copter broke again, and I kind of gave up on it.

Yours was the one that came down sideways? I think I saw that one but a few did that.

Yeah, this was the armory. My helicopter hit the roof pretty quickly and was up there for a minute or so.

yeah, that was ours :?

It flew ordinarily before, but for some reason, during the official flight, it came down like a plane. Yeah, that was ours you probably saw. I think we saw yours, because one of my teammates times a bunch of flights and said the one before ours was 2:09

The EXACT same thing happened to my helicopter at regionals. In testing, it would fly fine, but during the official flight, it flew up, but then circled down horizontally. I had no idea that it would exhibit that behavior...
