No, I didn't think we placed at all. Actually, when the person running the awards got to Protein Modeling, I started saying, "Nah, no way, not us, not us." I was in the middle of saying that when they announced that we got third, and half my team turned to me at once and said, "Yeah, you were saying?"

It was funnier if you were there, of course.

FullMetalMaple wrote: Not only that, but I was also the only member of my team who knew how to run jmol. I got it set up and tweaked it a bit so one of my partners could model the protein, and I did all of the test by myself.
Knowing how to use Jmol is the only reason I am in Protein Modeling. Today I typed in "Display 3-77 and *C" and sat there.
I wish I could bring my calculator to events.

Awesome! Most of the jokes I make are location or inside jokes and aren't funny at all.

Ha, that's not a bad ability, though. I wish they would take some time to figure it out - it only took me five minutes to get a basic idea of what to do. Did you know Jmol can make the protein colors like magenta and cyan? (We got really bored near the end of the event...)

Why can't you bring your calculator?

Scientific calculators are allowed. I don't know why, since there doesn't seem to be a need for them.

I would have played around with it more if I had time, but the person who was building the protein messed up the first time, then realised after the second time that they did the wrong protein. "unbind Left" is a useful command for sabotaging Jmol for future use.

My calculator is my avatar minus the Windows Logo.

They are needed very much in Remote Sensing. Ever try to find the square root of 3.125 without one?

The wrong protein? Wow. That's, uh, impressive. Did you manage to fix it in time? And thanks for the tip!

That's... one impressive calculator. I ought to find an avatar sometime.

Yeah, they are. I'm in Remote Sensing, but not for regionals and probably state. My brother and friend with sexy handwriting are instead.

Actually, I think it wasn't too long ago that zyzzyva98 mentioned the lack of Kansans. I think something changed...

More than half of which were created within the last two days.
This is further evidence that Kansas is better than Missouri.

We did fix the protein in time. Event Supervisors are supposed to reset the entire application between tests, so the command probably wouldn't matter. Or they might not, and if they figure out it was your team, you might get disqualified.

We forgot a calculator and took outdated notes to Remote and still got second.

So now there are about four active Kansans.
