Edit: Just a small typo! I typed kg instead of g. It should be 1863.567 g.
I think 1863.567 kg would weigh the same as a car.... what would you fire!?

Rules question:
A trebuchet has a trigger device that is not long enough to reach out of the launch area.
Is this a "construction vialation" Tier III?
or
Is this a "competition violation" (someone in the launch area)? Tier II

Technically, I think it would be both as long as there were both violations. However, the tier III would overide the tier II, so really a tier III.

Well at the last tourney I went to that had STC this happened to me and we just got points deducted, but we we're put into a different tier.

Has the projectile come down yet, or is it still in low earth orbit?

I wondered why people were complaining the ceiling was too low! It was also a mistake to use superballs as projectiles.
Note: I was thinking kg, but typed the number in grams.

Recently had my regionals, top three all got the same type of results when shooting, however 1st and 2nd shot at 13 meters (I shot at 12 meters), so I was awarded third place. The scores varied not that much by placing, sixth place(my school's second team) shot at 8 meters and hit the box every time.

Just keep in mind that the only advantage to hitting the box, other than haveing a smaller accuracy score, is the 10% bonus. So really, its better to be able to throw the projectile far than to be accurate (as long as you are accurate within the meter or so). Like you said, even though they hit the target every time, they still would have only had a score as if the placed the target at 8.8meters which is still less than the 13 meters that won.

Wait, I have a question. I have been reading the rules and have seen nothing about any differences at States, just wanted to make sure, that there are NO differences from regionals and states, right?
