Did you know which schools submitted bids or did you just make a wild guess?Unome wrote:Wow my prediction for 2020 was correct!John Richardsim wrote:Ey! https://www.soinc.org/future-national-tournaments
Well it wasn't quite a wild guess; I thought about it and considered that 1) they haven't hosted in a while, and were slated to host some years ago (2004?) but had to cancel for some reason 2) they have a history of good state tournaments and a reputation as a generally well-run state, and 3) who else is there? (probably several, but I couldn't think of any other places).maxxxxx wrote:Did you know which schools submitted bids or did you just make a wild guess?Unome wrote:Wow my prediction for 2020 was correct!John Richardsim wrote:Ey! https://www.soinc.org/future-national-tournaments
I believe IU Bloomington submitted a bid for 2020 since that's IU's bicentennial year...Unome wrote:Well it wasn't quite a wild guess; I thought about it and considered that 1) they haven't hosted in a while, and were slated to host some years ago (2004?) but had to cancel for some reason 2) they have a history of good state tournaments and a reputation as a generally well-run state, and 3) who else is there? I have no idea who 2021 will be though, or what happened to Missouri and 2019.
The only Missouri universities of national tournament size are UMKC and UM-Columbia. Columbia used to be our state location, but they kicked us out in 2014. That leaves UMKC, which has little tournament experience, and our state director didn't want it there.Unome wrote:

What counts as national tournament size? Juniata isn't all that large (nor is UW-Stout for that matter, at least in terms of building space), but they supported everyone just fine.Magikarpmaster629 wrote:The only Missouri universities of national tournament size are UMKC and UM-Columbia.
