MOST potentiometers only contain resistive elements. There are such things a 'digital' or 'solid-state' potentiometers: http://www.analog.com/media/en/training ... N-1208.pdfwindu34 wrote: No potentiometers contain only resistive elements

That omitted comma really changes the meaning of your sentence...windu34 wrote:No, potentiometers contain only resistive elementsrschmitz wrote:Is a potentiometer considered an integrated circuit?
Oh and FYI i get a lot of my motors for Hovercraft and Electric Vehicle by buying toys from the local thrift stores. The students have a blast pulling them apart.
One Propeller
I have a question about rule 4e: "The vehicle must have no more than two motors each rotating one propeller"
We are looking to leverage what I will call a "blower fan" to create the lift in the skirt similar to that found in the following kit:
https://www.amazon.com/Thames-Kosmos-Ai ... ywords=air
Would this be an acceptable "one propeller" motor?
Thank you in advance

Re: One Propeller
The blue blower in that picture appears to have just 1 motor and 1 propeller built into it. Is your question really more about what the definition of a propeller is?BDake wrote:I have a question about rule 4e: "The vehicle must have no more than two motors each rotating one propeller"

Thanks Chalker - I guess my question really is (and knowing that this is not the forum for formal rules interpretation) would you accept that blower fan on a device as an event supervisor? I would certainly think it fits in the spirit of what the construction parameters are trying to accomplish for the competition, but just looking for other opinions...chalker wrote:The blue blower in that picture appears to have just 1 motor and 1 propeller built into it. Personally I'd accept it.BDake wrote: Thanks Chalker - I guess my question really is (and knowing that this is not the forum for formal rules interpretation) would you accept that blower fan on a device as an event supervisor? Re: Hovercraft B/C
My partner and I finished buuilding, and our 1.9kg craft hovered, but it wouldn't move forward. We are using a 250 CFM fan for thrust, but I feel like the mesh is taking away a lot of power, and the air is dispersing in all directions rather than flowing in one direction. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Use a ducted fan or make your own ductVenom wrote:My partner and I finished buuilding, and our 1.9kg craft hovered, but it wouldn't move forward. That's computer fan has come up several times. I was wondering if anyone is actually using it. Does it work well? I'm hoping someone can verify that it's a good option before I spend $28 on it.
I've looked at other options like air pumps and vacuums, but static pressure is often not listed. So if you know anyway I could find that, it'd be greatly appreciated.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
