SoCal C has 3, if not more, "nats level" teams. Don't they need two bids too? I agree that it was unfair that a bid was taken from Texas, but your arguments are weak. I mean, what's the real definition of "nats level"? Don't plenty of states have "nats level" teams that don't get to go to nats? And how exactly would that defeat the spirit of SciOly? The whole point of Science Olympiad is to encourage STEM in middle and high schools through competition. Texas teams can still have both of those things without going to nats.

In that case what would you count as valid reason for another bid? Encouraging STEM in SciOly is done by pitting schools against each other for competition purposes, then watching people be forced to improve. Texas has 3 teams that have consistently done well in national level tournaments, and to exclude one of them is reducing competition, and therefore the need to improve.
