Never write complete sentences. Well at the beginning it's fine but once you get more into the structure.. use lots of fragments!

Well, er, sorry about that. I just wanted to emphasize that you do not NEED to use correct grammar. You obvioulsy can use complete sentences, but using fragments saves A LOT of time.

Pleiades is right. Never means never. You should never have anything written that your English teacher would consider an acceptable sentence. There's just no point... words like verbs, "the" "a" .. they're all quite useless really.

Example of directions (K'nex):

1. White circle flat on table
2. 12:00 slot - red stick. On other end, blue piece, use middle slot.
3. 3:00/7:30 slot of white piece - green sticks
4. On 7:30 green is red piece, perpendicular to table.

etc.

At the national competition this was more or less how I wrote for my partner. I finished writing 7 minutes early. I sat up, looked around and watched everyone else for the rest of the time. Everyone else wrote right up to the end. We got 3rd anyway. It's just not important to write long explanations. You just have to understand how much detail is required to eliminate any possible confusion for your partner and then express that in as few words as possible.

Sometimes. I have had proctors who don't allow you to touch the model. If they never explicitly say "you can't touch the model" then you're fine. There are usually a couple key parts you won't see without moving it or inverting your head in some odd way anyways.

yeha, that's what happened to me. the "object" in question was two or more popsicle sticks glued together, but at a distance, they looked like a wooden block.

In the rules, it says the writer may not touch the model at all. Obviously if the sup says it's okay, you can get away with it, but technically according to the rules it's not allowed.
