On the other hand, Penathlon is just not all fun and games ! There is a strategy that can be developed. A team from my regional consistenly placed throughout the season and medaled at state. A strategy could be developed with the academic part I think. Like, just place answers down as fast as possible so you can move on and decrease time. Mabey I dont know. Also the randomness factor is implemented in every event because you never know what's going to pop up on a test. Overall, I am against Pentathlon.

However, that strategy actually kind of proves the point that it's not about science... even the 'academic' part is just about how fast you can yell out "A! B! C! D! E!"

Even though I am against pentathlon in general I would like to point out that placing in events is partly determined by how fast you can write. So, how fast you can talk is just a part of the game, same as in "academic" events.

True, but at least in the academics, you have to actually come up with an answer, as opposed to just cycling through them as fast as possible until you hit the right one.

yes, i can agree with that :]
but of course some people might find things such as sorting common elements difficult....*cough* lol
but for that one at least you can't just go ABCDE
