Yeah, that too. It's just kind of hard to tell the difference between Pin Oak and the Northern Black Oak leaves at the bottom of the tree.

Can anyone tell the difference between the Limber Pine and the Whitebark Pine? They seem so identical...

just wondering...since most of the people I heard are using Sibley or NWF how would you identify the specimen if a picture with primarily a fruit is given?

There are pictures of fruit in both field guides. Also, the rules state that a leaf must be given. So that shouldn't be a problem.

Will we be tested on whether trees are gymnosperms or angiosperms?

I don't think it would be a problem...gymnosperms include merely conifers and the ginkgo. Everything else are angiosperms right?

No. Cycads are gymnosperms too.

Oh yeah, those too. Still, it's not too big of a problem?

I have a few questions:

NJ has its own tree list. Does that mean NJ can only test trees on the NJ tree list, even though there are only 20 trees on the list? Or is the NJ tree list the only ones to identify, and there are actually other questions about other trees. (Say x tree is the largest tree in the world, but x tree is not on the NJ tree list. Can there still be a question that says: what is the largest tree in the world?)

Can I print out the national list and the state list and write on both? Or do I get to print out just the state list? Would double spacing it but still keeping all of the trees on one page go against the rules?

Thanks! :)

Yes, NJ will only be testing the 20 trees on its state list. Would be pointless having a state list otherwise, no?

You can only print out the state list, but double spacing it shouldn't be a problem. Just keep an extra normal spaced list in case you get a really strict proctor.
