Re: Junkyard Challenge B
Plastic golf balls tend to work the best, as they are the lightest.

it depends on the type of ball ( see rules ) And don't mock me and my sisters catupult124113 wrote:You can lanuch each ball once. So if you have 10 balls, you will do much better than if you only have one.

score = d(n+1),
our best score is 102in accurate 10/10 times w/ tennis balls, so
= 2590.8mm * (10+1) is 28498.8
what are you guys getting?

Re: Junkyard Challenge B
Did anyone realize that D(N+1) is actually not your score? Your score is actually D+D(N+1) because your score is your distance, and your bonus points are calculated using the formula: D(N+1).

Re: Junkyard Challenge B
The team for my school which is suppose to do this is not doing it well so I need to help out. Competition is in a week. I was wondering if I got the right ideas. For catapult, you are suppose to use a trajectory with rubber bands to shoot out balls as accurate and far as possible. Tennis balls are ideal to use as you can bring 10 of them. A basic idea is to have an arm attached to a stack of papers which will shoot out with the power of the rubber band. For bouncer, you need to make a launching device which is triggered by the ball so it can shoot the ball about 1-2m. It also needs distance and accuracy. I guess rubber bands which are sketched will work? I am not sure what to do otherwise. Lastly, for the ramp, I am thinking a hollow tube of paper supported by some cups and other things would work. A low slope is needed as well as a light ball. If not, I also that two tube which will guide the ball will work. Any suggestions or help? I appreciate any help as I am just listing ideas without testing them.

It sounds like you pretty much know what you are doing. Try to come up with a few different designs for each construction, and build them.
Stick with your designs that work the best. Those will be the ones to build at competition. It doesn't have to be perfect, just do your best!

The bouncer doesn't have a trigger, unless you are talking about the catapult. Read the rules again for B3.124113 wrote:Does the trigger for Bouncer HAVE to be activated by the ball? Please answer!!!!

Ben, you need to learn how to make a signature, and how to use better spelling and grammar. You also need to think before you post, they weren't making fun of our catapult, okay.
