To put it simply, posting the rules on ANY website (such as
http://computethis2010.wordpress.com/ and
http://code.google.com/p/katahdin-dev/downloads/list ) without permission from Science Olympiad may violate their copyright and could be subject to fines of up to $150,000.00 per instance per day! Their policy is clearly stated on the bottom of the table of contents page in the rule books and also on their website.
I'm not a lawyer, but you may wish to consult one!

Quick queston, if you are drawing or making a graph on excel, do you have to site your source from where you got the information?

Usually the test will tell you. I know you have to give the URL for the short answers. Maybe sometimes for the actual data.

Better safe than sorry, you don't want to lose a point or two because you didn't know to put the URL in the graph, that could cost you a few places. Besides, it doesn't take long, just Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V, and you're good to go.

Yeah, thanks, it was just diffucult at one invitational, we couldn't copy and paste because it would crash the computers, that was really confusing.

Wow, how does a computer crash because of copying and pasting? There's definitely a problem there.

How much do you think we need to know about functions on Excel?

From my experiences, not too much. It's mainly just inputing data and turning it into a chat. Just know how to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and find the average and you should be ok.
