the arrow for the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere are pointing the same direction. so why would it be pointing to the left in the southern if its pointing to the right in the northern?

Ok picture yourself standing on the dot in the northern hemisphere turn so that you are facing the direction to which the wind is flowing and than the wind will deflect towards the right.

now picture yourself standing on the dot in the southern hemisphere turn so that you are facing the direction to which the wind is flowing and than the wind will deflect towards the left.

Its all a perspective thing

The deflection is relative to the direction in which the motion is heading.

so if the direction of motion is westward the deflection would still be to the right in the northern hemisphere and left in the southern
