The fact of there being so many teams in itself makes it difficult to compete within the state. In C Division, of course, one could make a case for it being difficult to compete in NY because you know no matter what you do, Fayetteville-Manlius will destroy you.
Thanks for restating what I just said...
Sorry, I was trying to elaborate on your comment, not restate what you said.

Gelinas isn't dominant in anywhere near the way F-M is; three years of first in the state versus nine years of first in the state (and this year, they won by a margin of 158 points), but thanks.

Okay, but both teams are still very good. My real point though, is that it's almost impossible to make nationals in C in Pennsylvania if you're not on Harriton or Penncrest, and in B, there's only one spot open because of Sewickley. In Ohio, that's even more extreme with Solon, Centerville, Chardon, Magsig, West Salem Liberty, and more. Those are the two states, in my opinion, that are the most challenging to get to nationals.

yeah but NJ only sends one team to nats, so that means you have to be the best of the best. i think NJ. either that or NY

i dunno. i think Pennsylvania would be pretty tough. apparently my coaches know some coaches from there, and PA sent us some of their state tests.....those things were hard! we're usually pretty quick to pick up on things, and usually we really appreciate new material to work with, but man.....im pretty happy i don't have to compete there on a regular basis...we just have to go up against them at nats, thank goodness.

Fayetteville-Manlius is an excellent school, but I think a state like Ohio or PA has that also, but even more so. As I already explained, Ohio has a few teams in both divisions every year that could get top 10 at nationals. Not only one. B division in PA recently has had Sewickley dominating. Harriton has been dominating for a while, and Penncrest has also been dominating for a few years now in PA C division. Yes, Fayetteville-Manlius and Gelinas have been dominating for a few years now, but it's not like Pennsylvania or Ohio.
past FEW years? it been a longer than a few(granted this is being literal and i consider few about 3)
