I noticed that there was a kit for Optics. I'm kind of contemplating on whether I should buy it or not.Suggestions?

@kenniky
Im guessing you mean like for example "optical absorption spectra of a series of nanocrystal gold molecules"
AP Physics textbook works fine or a College Physics book.
This link gives you information on Optical Absorption
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q ... ETxEZhI4Dw

This link is for clay minerals
http://www.clays.org/journal/archive/vo ... 1-1-59.pdf
I sugest reading them, they are very informative.

It's just the LSS setup. There are instructions I made on the Official website to build your own, but if you don't want to do that the Wards Sci one is pre-built and very nice.

I noticed that there is allowed to have premade pamphlets when you go to competition. What does this mean, is there different things if could be used for?

I suspect some teams place these on the LSS ad use them to align mirrors.

This is correct.

Would it be helpful to build your own optics setup before the optics b/c event?

Very much so.

Hey,
does anyone know what films, chemicals, and dyes have to do with the optical absorption spectra (a handout would be great)? I know about absorbance and the absorption coefficient, but I don't know how they're relevant to latter.

Thanks,
