I think it's only top 3 at regionals, and Indiana's absolutely nothing in amount teams when compared to CA, NY, PA, MI, and OH. At least we're getting more competitive...or maybe that was just the top 2 teams from IN last year.

In div. C for 3 years, I've gotten 21 medals (2 invites, 9 regionals, 7 state, 3 nationals)..18 of them are from the last 2 years. I've gotten more medals from nats (2 years) than I have from invites (2 years) which I find somewhat funny. So Riley is apparentally an incredibly competitive invitational.

You're also Jon Gold. That's an important advantage.

let's just say i belong to a state with one of the smallest number of science Olympiad teams, with the same teams winning year after year after year(not my team, however i hope this tradition will be stopped).

ohh. same in my state. we only have around 16-18 teams register each year in div B. The same team wins states every year by a lot of points and then goes to nationals and always gets in the top 10 [except for this year]

well, the winner in our state usually doesn't do too well at nationals(at least in recent years) they're usually in the high 30's and low 40's rank. however, most teams from our state have very few student population(thus less people really interested in SO), so there isn't any big challenges to them at state except(hopefully) my team.

It was pretty funny at states sitting in the gym for the award ceremony. We saw one team which was made up of like 6 students walk in and then we saw a team of 15 then we saw the huge Coolidge team [the team that always wins] walk in with over 30 students. Most of the teams however had around 15-20 students.

thats the same in most places though, because i've seen some teams of 6 or so, then a couple that bring everyone that helped to state so they have 30 to 50 kids there. i actually competed in one invitational in which only me and one other person on my team competed, that was fun

so did we, though we did get 1st in ecology, and we were in the top 1/2 of teams total, so we didn't do that badly
