Re: Junkyard Challenge (C)
AAAH! I am so excited about this event. This was the event I dreaded the most going into the season because it's had a reputation as being a dreadful trial event, but I'm really really excited to start working on this. I have so many ideas already. So excited!

man, I've been sick the past couple days and all my materials and stuff was at school so I'm falling behind on my work if I want to take first at the Boyceville invite.

Re: Junkyard Challenge (C)
tipping the scales is just musuring the mass of things
the OTHER challenge (coin sorter) is where you separate coins
at regionals they will only use tipping the scales but if you make it to states the person running it chooses which one to do got it?

Robot was great and still is- Junkyard is too vague
This is a great year because I will beat Owen and Saad in Egg-O-Naut and the New York Jets are a playoff team this year because Brett Farve is the Best Quarterback on the Earth. 7-3. Better and better every week. The Yankees are getting C.C. Sabbathia.

Re: Junkyard Challenge (C)
For regionals, you have to build a scale that can be taken apart to fit in the box of the dimensions specified. You have to be able to assemble it at competition (without power tools or glue) and you need to add the mystery piece the event coordinator gives you. Then you have to weigh things they give you with your scale.Kindra wrote:I am sort-of confused about the event Junk Yard Challenge. What are everyone's ideas for what they're doing with the mystery piece?

Re: Junkyard Challenge (C)
I recommend adding "extension points" to your device so that you can standardize the use of the mystery material.
For example, find a way to always use the mystery material to compensate for one short leg of the device.

That's what I had been thinking as well. It seems like the easiest way to argue that the success of your device is relying on that part.DeltaHat wrote:I recommend adding "extension points" to your device so that you can standardize the use of the mystery material.
