Although we learned more in 7th grade science, i liked 8th grade science better. I dunno why though. The earthquakes and volcanoes part of the year was BY FAR the best. Thats actually what sparked my interest into earthquakes and volcanoes and made me realize my love for the earth sciences! I cant wait until we get started on this event!

Yea. This year it's about volcanoes and earthquakes and you can get pretty in dept about them.

so this event is like SUPER EARTH SCIENCE!!! with out the the sepcific feilds huh? i mean to understand geolgy you MUST KNOW this stuff like you can get alot of geo with out glaceirs but if you dont know what a plate is forget about it

If you dont know what a plate is then you really shouldnt be doing this event. There's a lot to learn if you dont know anything. If you know a lot about this topic than most of this stuff is review. I would think that most people on other teams would atleast read the Prentice Hall book entitled Inside Earth. it's pretty basic but it covers some earthquake and volcano stuff as well as plate tectonics which is enough to give you an overview of the subject. I would think that some of this would be common sense if you know about geo.

i think i read that book befor its really thin and had a picture of a volcano on it right? hmmm for earthquakes and stuff there another book you could get i think its called earths changeing surface and its also from pactice hall

yup thats it. i've also read earth's changing surface. Well i've read the old editions of all of them. My coach has the entire prentice hall science explorer set in his closet. They do a pretty good job of teaching you the basics. I heard the book on anatomy is pretty good. Eathousemd used that book as her only study resource and she didnt do THAT BAD in the event. I personally find that those books dont teach you enough though but i guess it depends on the event.
