What do the little c's stand for? (The book I have has Cambrian = funky C with two lines, Ordovician=O, and Devonian=D.)

Anyway...

What is the standard scale on a USGS map?

Sediment deposits horizontally, chronologically, bottom to top. In other words, rock layers on the bottom are older than rock layers on top (barring any events that change the scene).

LOL it's like we're the only people on this forum...

There is A) a bed of native rock, B) a dike running through it, and C) a weird patch of rock surrounding the dike, separating it from the native rock. Label A, B, and C by rock type (igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic)?
