Do any of you know where I could find a good resource about taxonomy? I'm trying to understand all the changes to the five kingdom system (like the Domains, Kingdoms Protozoa and Chromista, the subgroups and supergroups), so that I don't get confused when looking up the individual species.

Hey guys!
So my partner, a former rocks person, said that last year, they used Microsoft Access to make a database. Would this be useful in Fossils too?

I didn't choose the Bug Lyfe, the Bug Lyfe chose me.

What is a database?

I bet a database could be useful for small pieces of information such as temporal range. You could also make smaller databases containing only one phylum for phylum specific information, or one for just aquatic organisms, and so on.

This is my first year doing fossils (I did rocks and minerals) and the fossils list really confuses me.
Could someone please help explain it to me? Thanks!

Yeah, I'm in the same boat.
You probably would want to study the numbered stuff, as well as the phyla and the "Other".

Personally I'm just going to look up everything on there.

Yeah, I'm doing the same.
So, I'm making my fossils binder by creating a specific template, then basically "filling in the blanks" with info.
Does anybody do it a different way, or something?
I would like to hear some other ideas.
Thanks!

This is oddly specific for this early in the year, but does anyone know how to distinguish hexagonaria and septastraea?
