A bunch of 6th graders joined at the beginning of the year.
One who was doing helicopters asked my friend (also doing helicopters) if he could "borrow" hers from last year to fly at the competition. He didn't even show up.
We now only have 4 6th graders on our team.

In our homeschool group, Science Olympiad is huge. We had a good period where we had three B div teams (now we have two) and one C div team (we still do). It's a good way to socialize with friends you would've never met before. It's pretty popular.
TSA's pretty cool... i guess

At our school, SciOly is an elective class. We have it for around an hour every single day. Nobody really knew much about it(they'd make a little announcement for us if we competed the previous day) until we won first place at Regionals, then people started to realize our team was significantly good. This is our first year as a school and as a SciOly team, by the way. People still think we're major nerds though. My own non-SciOly friends can't seem to comprehend why I spend my break times, lunches, and 1 hour+ after school for it. They don't understand and don't bother trying to, either. So I'd say they just like us as a bragging right, something to show off, but in reality they can't really relate to our team. Except for maybe people in NHD, Science Fair, and MathCounts, no one really gets why this is important to us. I kind of like it this way though, we have more motivation to make them really proud to have us as a SciOly team.

Our school has no clue that they even have an SO team, and then the few people that do think its some small-time science fair thingy. BUT NO! It's as competitive as any sport, and needs as much time put into it.
