Adenine and guanine are purines which have 2 rings and 4 atoms of nitrogen.
Cytosine, thymine, and uracil are pyrimidines which have 1 ring and 2 atoms of nitrogen.

It's been a while since a question's been asked, so I thought I'd just ask a question! What is the purpose and special property of Taq polymerase in PCR?

Taq polymerase is used in PCR to synthesize new DNA templates. It is a thermostable DNA polymerase which enables the PCR cycles to heat the solution up to 60c with out inactivation.

Alright,
Q1: what is the inheritance pattern of mitochondrial DNA?
Q2: Mitochondrial DNA is more susceptible to damage from what, and for what reason?

Mitochondrial DNA is inherited through the mother.
mtDNA is particularly susceptible to reactive oxygen species generated by the respiratory chain due to its proximity.
