Anyone have an idea of what they are looking for in the part that is holding egg

It should look similar to the image below in addition to a 1/4" wooden dowel approximately 20cm tall attached to the top center of the backstop.

That what me and my partner were thinking about, but that breaks the rules. If I am understanding this right
2 f. states "no tape placed on the front or rear 2.0cm of the egg". Which to me doesn't seem to be much space since the average length of an egg is 5.7cm. So I don't know what they expect besides a 1.7cm strip around the middle

I think the only difference in that picture and the rules is the one piece of tape running along the long axis of the egg. without that it seems like it'd be fine. It looks like 1/2" tape (1.27cm).

Yes, you're going to have to be careful about how you wrap your egg, best bet is to wrap your egg with a single layer of tape and check with your ES that it's within the limits and then go tape crazy.

When in doubt, check with your ES.

where should I look to find good pulleys?

distance score = (cm)
time score = (5 * s)
Which aspect, time or distance, will be the main deciding factor for scores this year?
I am guessing, distance score?

Also, there is no estimated time score this year..any reason why?

Not sure where to find good pulleys, but I'd check the internet and local hobby stores.

As to which factor will be deciding the scores, it depends. It depends on your vehicle, how well you can run it, the conditions of the floor, what stage of competition you're at (Regionals, States, Nats), etc. Typically, from what I've seen distance matters more at the regional levels and then as you go up from there timing becomes more critical. You'll just have to do your best within the limitations of your device.

With the estimated time there was less of an incentive for devices to be fast. Now with the focus on absolute timing and the capability to do a better job of measuring it (photogates/laser system), the new meta will push for devices to run quicker.

The last time Scrambler was a C division event (2006 and 2007 seasons), the scoring formula for both years was time in seconds x 3 + distance to the barrier in cm. The distance was to the barrier itself rather than to a point on the barrier. There was no predicted time score then, just like now. The team that won nationals in 2007 had the fastest car and did both runs at < 1 cm from the wall.

The 2nd page has the right scrambler frame slightly tilted on its axis so it's a 3D model rather than a 2D image.

Could anyone provide an actual picture of a spring launcher or possibly a deeper explanation in design than the wiki provides? Thanks!
