Re: Mac or PC?
I had only Windows forever, then I started working with MAC and widows, now I have a Macbook. I honestly don't care either way, they both are good for somethings and not for others. I believe I am going to be running both of my laptop here shortly. So...yeah...no real preference (unless I am deciding between video/audio/photo editing or gaming then mac for the first and windows for the second).

Re: Mac or PC?
that's awesome, i can't believe people access scioly through a game system, way cool. I think i prefer a mac if i can afford it, because my family uses a pc, and it crashes all the time and is extremely slow.

Re: Mac or PC?
That's either due to low memory, slow processing speed, or high memory usage. Make sure you run virus and spyware scans often. Also go into your msconfig and uncheck any non-essential processes from the startup.
Just because your PC is slow and crashes doesn't mean that all PC's do. Number one way to keep any computer in good shape is to keep it maintained.
Mind if I ask the make, OS, RAM, and processor speed?

Microsoft Configuration. It's a little program that comes with all versions of Windows. Basically, it lets you control which parts of Windows run and which don't.smartkid222 wrote:What's msconfig?

Re: Mac or PC?
It's in the System32 file, so you can just go to Run and type in msconfig. Or, if you don't know how to get to Run (and you should), it's in C:\Windows\System32.smartkid222 wrote:And how do u get to it? Re: Mac or PC?
Yup, go to Start>Run then type in "msconfig" (no quotes) and hit OK. Under "startup selection" choose "selective startup" (check all boxes beneath it) then go to the "startup" tab. Decheck all the processes you do not want to run on startup. There shouldn't be anything that could mess up your computer by dechecking it, but you may still want some of it to run (anti virus software, etc).
Most computers come with so much stuff preloaded that ends up in the startup directory, and a lot of stuff that you put on afterward will be there that you may rarely use. Those processes will start up when the computer starts, and always run in the background, eating away at your CPU performance. Stopping them from running greatly improves your speed.

Re: Mac or PC?
All the studying I did last year for robot ramble and my ev (which was a horrible failure) got me interested in open source. I honestly like it much better than Windows. The only problem is that I can find drivers for a few of my devices but its not a big deal.
