I learned very possibly the most useless information ever, got over my fear of presenting (at least for the time being), and had some brother-sister bonding time. Finally we had fun, and that is what SciOly is all about, right?
Am I right?
Disclaimer: my sig medal is a 1st at State in the same event, so I do think I'm qualified to joke about that. You can call that a proud achievement, too, considering I adorn my posts with it.
Lol, well it did help in Dynamic Planet... and for a single tossup in quizbowl... but other than that, yeah
hmmmm... it would have to be either building a "cello" for sounds of music, and then placing 1st at regionals! or winning 2nd at boycivillie for food science (it was my first competition ever!)!!!!
another one of my proudest moments was winning 3rd for food science at state, even though people were competing at the wrong times, causing other people to not finish, and when the coach judging it gave all the answers to her team!
Highview, annoying moundsview kids since 2012.
2012-2013 year:
invitationals-
food science 2nd
food science 10th
regionals-
sounds of music 1st
1st overall
state-
food science 3rd
3rd overall
I have a 2nd place regionals medal in Dynamic Planet, a 3rd place medal in Food Sci./Crime Busters, and Shock Value...not to mention a 2nd place state medal in Anatomy
But I'm most proud of my 4th place medal in Crime Busters that I recently got...cause I walked out of that event thinking "I deserve 4th". It was the one event where I wasn't shocked or disappointed...I was content, and thought I got what I deserved.
My proudest moment was when the meteorology test gave out answers before each question (like a description and formula of wet adiabatic lapse rate), and none of the other competitors took advantage of that. We placed 2nd, and we barely studied.
My proudest moment so far was getting gold in Forestry at Regionals. I've been doubting myself for the last two years, and a win was what convinced me I was good enough to compete under Gelinas's name. There are so many intelligent and hard working kids, and I never thought that I'd ever be good enough. I still don't believe in myself, and I worry constantly. But you know what? A win was what I needed, as stupid as that sounds.
Last year, I was put on rocks and minerals a week before regionals due to a shortage of prepared team members. I took dead last. This obviously angered me so I studied EXTEMELY hard. My many hours of hard work paid off in the long run. Thanks to my coach, my current science teacher, and the encouragement of my teammates, I medaled at states! I got 5th place. That's probably the proudest moment of my science olympiad career.
2013 Events:
Helicopters- 1st
Rocks and Minerals- 2nd
Sounds of Music- 1st
Water Quality- 2nd
I'd tell a chemistry joke but all of the good ones Ar. I'm going to PA States! PM me if you are too and maybe we'll see each other!
Yup nerdgirl314 you made our coach cry! Mine would be working on a helicopter for about 100 million billion hours and getting from 19 seconds to a minutes and 41 seconds. Right partner? (Nerdgirl314)
2013
Disease Detectives- 4th
Helicopters- 1st
Road Scholar- 5th
Write it Do it- 2nd

Definitely! I almost cried when we went up to get our medal. From garbage to gold!

How did you make the helicopter? I mean, I don't want to copy you exactly, but ours is kind of like the garbage you're describing... But worse. SOMEHOW we got 6th regionally, and it stayed in the air for about 15 seconds. xD I wasn't even there, though. Can you PM me some helpful tips that I can show to my teammates? Thanks!
I guess I have to add that defending my regional Water Quality title is one of my proudest moments. As well as placing 4th in Exp. Design when we got put in the event just three days earlier.
