On one website it says it is the rate of ice accumulation, and written as:
b(x)=integral(t2,t1)b(x,t)dt
That's all I found, and frankly, there is about a -100% chance you need to know it for anything related to science olympiad.

Heh, it's funny that I stumbled upon this...She's from my school :P . I gave the younger kids that formula on a tryout test as a teaser to see how well they could research formulas, though I know that it's largely irrelevant towards actual scioly glaciers. I think I happened upon it by searching for a mass-balance equation for glaciers, saw an integral that would freak others out, and threw it onto the test. It was fun seeing them try and figure it out :D

Yeah, in general for any event in Division B there shouldn't be math higher than Algebra. Geometry may help, but all the numerical problems should be able to be solved with just Algebra. I'm not sure for Division C, but there definitely won't be "integrals"

I did here of a differential on our state TPS test, but other than that, there probably shouldn't be anything above simple calculus.
On that subject, does anyone know what math equations we should know for glaciers. I think albedo, Darcy's law, would be good to know, does anyone know any others?

I've participated in Dynamic Planet for about half a year last year, I thought it was interesting enough. So, of course, here I am repeating this course of action.

Can someone post the overview of the Dynamic Planet event, like what exact topics about glaciers are being covered and what we need to know for it?

Check out the wiki!

Some of the information for topics are missing, but it is relatively helpful.

I would try checking with teachers in your school- they may be willing to loan you some.
Also, try online, you can often get used textbooks and reference books for a discounted price. That means that you can then write in them.
Likewise, try a used booksale or bookstore if there is one near you- that's where I've gotten almost all of my personal reference books. If you can find one in a college town, that may be your best bet if you are looking for textbooks.
