Re: Future Aviation Events
Thanks. I had tried searching elastic launch glider, and it turned up very few helpful results.

How about the cap of a specific brand of marker, chap stick or glue stick? There ought to be something out there that would serve the turn.illusionist wrote:Perhaps a thimble? The bottle cap solution was pretty awesome by the way, it's both very accessible and works rather well!

Good Ideas!Flavorflav wrote:How about the cap of a specific brand of marker, chap stick or glue stick? I would think a chap stick cap would meet both the safety aspect (no sharp point) and the aerodynamic aspect.
Matt or Jeff, any way to get these ideas into the rules discussion for Elastic Glider for next year?
Thanks.

Ballast is any dense material added to something in order to bring it up to minimum weight.thsom wrote:WHat is meant by the ballast? Section 3 subsection b

Oh alright, since it says no metal for ballast, can we use metal (like music wire) for the hook for launching?chalker7 wrote:Ballast is any dense material added to something in order to bring it up to minimum weight.thsom wrote:WHat is meant by the ballast? Section 3 subsection b

Metal is not one of the permitted materials and (unless I'm reading it wrong) is not permitted.thsom wrote:Oh alright, since it says no metal for ballast, can we use metal (like music wire) for the hook for launching?chalker7 wrote:Ballast is any dense material added to something in order to bring it up to minimum weight.thsom wrote:WHat is meant by the ballast? This is for safety. These things move at a high rate of speed and metal could hurt someone.
Everything can be done with wood, paper, and glue with clay (or silly putty) for ballast.
Now, giving away tips for Elastic gliders: check this website. It has some old, but still helpful, resources

In fact, I am using this website, I am using the simple simon design since... well.. this is my first time with an aviation event that isn't helicopters (which is quite frankly, much simpler), good thing it's trial
