I guess that's true. I'd really like to see how much muscular system they plan to cover. I mean, they can't ignore it completely.

they've got to cover a lot of stuff...the nervous system can be pretty complex too and for me, the circulatory is pretty easy. i'm sure they'll get fairly deep into the system

At least for Division C. They can be a lot more basic with Division B - just origins and insertions and the like.

I think it will be similar to Division B Science of Fitness from four years ago, when the focus was circulatory system and muscles. Not only did we need to know all the muscles and their antagonists/protagonists, origins/insertions, and movements in reference to anatomical position, we also had to know all of the bones of the body. I'm sure there will be much more focus on bone anatomy, but I'm sure there will be some of the same muscle concepts as Science of Fitness.

I love ORGANS!!! I like the circulatory organs the best. With the heart going, and all the arteries flowing...It's like a river! I did Anatomy last year and I'm gonna do it this year as well because a friend on my team said that it's an easy GOLD for the TEAM because I already know a lot about it.You try to find a kid with a plastic spine in their bedroom. She likes to win. The team loves her for that reason. The WORLD loves her for that reason. She's a lovable person. She love EVERYONE!!!

Major changes to Health Science:
- anatomy and physiology of skeletal and circulatory systems and the effects of aging and disease on those systems
- "various formats" (stations, test, slides, specimens, etc.)

What do you think about the new event changes?

i haven't seen the new rules yet but aging to the systems is different. those questions will be the ones that separate the teams that really know the stuff from the ones that are lucky

It would be SO cool if we saw real specimens at the Regional or State competitions. Over the summer, I spent some time looking at actual hearts down in a pathology unit at a local hospital. There is a huge difference between 2D pictures and 3D organs, let me tell you. If a specimen were at a competition, it would really create a more difficult test.

well, if you look on the site, it never really said anything about muscle system on the sites it listed, i guess it is probably how it relates the skeletal system... i want the rule book! They only have the rulebook from last year on the Science Olympiad website!
