oh really?
we got a new coach this upcoming year
>.<
meh
and that means that our crazy, non-responsible team has to teach him what to do
and if they are always absent from meetings
and we find them at 7-11 chugging down hot cheetos and slurpies....
im not so optimistic about this upcoming year for my team :?

Yeah, I'm kind of scared for next year too. Although my coach told me that the majority of people on the team join in sophmore year. Hopefully I'll be able to send a few of my friends who love science on a guilt trip... 8-)

yeah i'm going into eighth grade and i recruited 2 more people to join.... well actually i guess one considering the other one of the two quit before regionals... still good to have more people :D

but the way we spread the word about science olympiad is by showing off our potential, if i may.. during our "open house" (where all the parents tag along with their students on a selected night), is where we display our catapults, towers (pretty much everything we built or attempted to build), HUGE textbooks, and pics of us receiving medals. and then our coach was my 7th grade science teacher so she urges her students to join...
I go to school at Cerro Villa MS. A neighboring school of El Rancho Charter, a once dominating science olympiad team. Rebecca Black goes to El Rancho. It's Friday everyday there. :D

our coach does that too, we have this science room where we put our towers and such on display.
i am going into eighth grade too, and my science teacher next year is the academic coach, so he convinces new people to join.

This year we started out with 75 people but like 30 of them quit because they thought it was too hard. :(

We just tell people that there is a "Science Olympiad," and everyone will think that they want to join since it sounds like fun. (Even though it isn't for most people.)

On the first meeting day (open for whoever wants to join), there a bunch of random people (this year - 125), who think they want to do cool stuff like Battery Buggy and Crime Busters.

Eventually they learn that it's boring and only a minority of the people get into the events they want, that most of them decide to quit.

Finally, at Regionals we had 32 competitors. At states we had 15. 10 non-competitors came with the team.
