Good thing I'm not an officer, since I'm now rendered useless >.<

Yes, it is. He died from alcohol poisoning, I think.
This should be entertaining - I like history and I like word puzzles!

The answer is indeed Magnos Alexandros, he who conquered the unconquerable Persia. He claimed descent from Herakles on his fathers side and Achilles by his mother. He was guided by the teachings of his tutor, the Athenian Aristotle, and he cause of his death is disputed, but thought to be Malaria.

To those who answered correctly, congratulations, and heed my warning, for the night is dark and the shadows evil. Your clue shall be up shortly.

At last, the awaited kill clue:

One whose abode, large in size
In conditions, happened to arise
Under a banner, a spark alone,
seeds of revolt sown
for divergence soon to thrive
a triumphant force of '45
a member who seeks elucidation
to the ultimate interrogation

Um, at a quick glance, I would guess that zyzzyva98 is the target.

"seeds of revolt sown for divergence soon to thrive" may refer to Bloody Kansas, a series of conflicts between advocates of slavery and abolitionists that might have led to the Civil War.

The last two lines may refer to Z's affinity for debating.

Assassinator, may I suggest that you increase each clue to 2 days? Not all of us have enough time to get on and solve clues every day.

In benevolent consideration that many of the officers may have finals soon and upon popular request, the time alloted for the first six clues will be increased to two days. The clues from seven onward will continue with the one day rule to expedite the game, as the decrease in interest at that point outweighs any benefit gained by additional time.

Bleeding Kansas was after 1845, too.
So there was a seed of revolt that culminated in '45. We don't know which '45 - certainly it could be any, which proves a bit of a challenge - but the French Revolution was after 1745*, as was the American Revolution*, so, uh, there you have it. I don't know what happened in 1945, but I think that was during WWII. The Civil War, however... that's possible. Revolution was a distinct possibility back in 1845*. Also, Texas was acquired in 1845* (I don't know if that's important). Is anyone from Texas playing?

* - ALL facts are taken from Wikipedia, so take that as you will.

Let's break this up:
Assassinator wrote:One whose abode, large in size
One who lives in a large house
Assassinator wrote: In conditions, happened to arise
Under a banner, a spark alone,
seeds of revolt sown
??? Something about a spark causing a revolt
Assassinator wrote: for divergence soon to thrive
a triumphant force of '45
Usually when you just say "45" you mean 1945... I think that's a general rule. (Anyone want to comb through this?)
Assassinator wrote: a member who seeks elucidation

A member who seeks an explanation to the ultimate question (last word is just a guess, it could also be a literal "interrogation")

brobo, brobo, brobo (and Kokonilly too...)
World War II ENDED in 1945. That was when it ENDED.

That's all the help I'm giving you. People who aren't playing can be targeted (that was just last round that rule was in effect) but that doesn't mean you have to protect me over an officer. I'm a worthless civilian.
