Thanks for the heads up. I've been focusing on Microsoft Excel usually. It'll be in best interest to get acquainted with both programs though.

So you are aure that they won't use Excel 2010? :o  :? Because i have been practicing on that and i want to to know that all of my practicing was worth it or not!
They are similar so there will not be that much of a problem but still! its good to know.

I'd say that there's a much better chance they'll use 2007 rather than 2010 because more people have 2007, but an online doc processor is most likely at tournaments that count.

Does learning Google search commands help with the competition? Also, the rules manual says the spreadsheet and the word processor may vary in different competitions (unless my coach/I are interpreting the rules wrong). Should I get comfortable with Google Spreadsheets and Excel 2010?

Yes, learning search commands does help a great deal when trying to find up-to-date information. As for Google Docs vs. Excel, learn both, but you should probably learn 2007 over 2010 because most schools have 2007. But if you have time, go ahead, learn all three!

It's definitely a good idea to get acquainted with both Microsoft and online word processors- we used Microsoft Word and Excel in our Regionals. We had been practicing with the online docs and my partner was freaking out and not taking the change well- the only reason we did good (4th) was that I had been taking a Microsoft Office class in school.
