Ok, nevermind, looking through them, they are a tiny bit different. I'm not sure which one is the most recent.

The one from aug.edu, not posted on the soinc sebsite, includes Process skills, and says under things you need to know for Regionals, that 25% of the questions will involve those process skills. The link on soinc has nothing about process skills. A percentage of questions involing Process Skills is listed for each level of competition.

On the one on soinc, Regionals stuff and States stuff is together, but on aug.edu, it's not. So on aug.edu there are things only for States that are under Regionals and States on the soinc website. if that makes sense.

Some of the things you need to know for states listed on the aug.edu one are under Division C only on the soinc one.

The aug.edu one also says that some questions/stations may involve the actual use of a microscope.

www.aug.edu is the website for Augusta State University aka where nats was held two years ago. Microbe was a pilot at nats two years ago so those are pilot rules and probably not the ones you want to go off of.

Ah. Sorry, I didn't realize. Smart fmtiger! The rules are not too different, though we should probably rely on chinkasaurus's version of the rules for now, until the official ones come out.

Most things people have tend to end up on the test exchange. Since it is a newish event (first year as a actual national event) there are very few tests. It used to be Bio Process Lab for Div B and Cell Bio? for Div C
So just keep checking back to the Test Exchange Wiki

also if anyone does have sommat please upload it to the test exchange for all to enjoy
Edit the Wiki.

actually cell bio and bio process are both different than this event. this is strictly limited to microorganisms, while bio process was anything biology related and cell bio was strictly cellular biology.

Bio Process Lab was MUCH broader than this... It is typically going to be formatted in stations. Like BPL you need to be able to use process skills such as: data interpretation (graphs/tables), dichotomous key, conclusions, calculations, metric conversions, microscopy, ect. You need to know different kinds of microscopes and uses (same as BPL....) Know the parts of a cell, Differences among prions/viruses/bacteria ect. (microbes), the roles of microbes in commercial production, diseases they may cause, and good vs. Bad.
Sample questions may be 1) 2 differences among bacteria/viruses/and fungi 2) match the disease with the types of organisms that cause it.
All this is from the manual, but i hope it may help some... :)
No matter what the experiment's result, there will always be someone eager to:(a) misinterpret it(b) fake it, or (c) believe it supports his own pet theory.

How do you do the question about the microscope on the sample questions of the rules page.
