North Korea is very misunderstood in today's world. They are made out to be a threat when they really aren't. The army and weapons they field may look impressive on paper, but the fact is they're technologically 30 years behind the rest of the modern world and they can't go intercontinental with their missiles. North Korea knows that any attempt to attack, by conventional warfare or nuclear, would be suicide. The South Koreans would easily defeat North Korea on the ground, and the nuclear umbrella will ensure that any North Korean missile attack will be retaliated against. The fact of the matter is, North Korea can't take over the world or even its southern counterpart and they know it. Kim-Jong Il may seem crazy, but he's not stupid. He's actually rather smart- you don't stay in power 60 years without intelligence. He's just acting this way to draw in enough attention and foreign aid so that his dynasty doesn't fall. But especially after today's attacks, one wonders if this may backfire on him.
